Add Auto-Op |
 |
|
 |
|
You can have ChanServ automatically give channel operator status to people when
they join your channel using the addop command.
The syntax for ADDOP is /msg chanserv addop #channel adminpass nickname
or !addop nickname
Example: You would like to add VD-WHiZ as an auto-op in your channel #clan_xyz
and your admin password is k1ckazz ... you would type:
/msg chanserv
addop #clan_xyz k1ckazz VD-WHiZ -or-
!addop VD-WHiZ
You can also add an auto-op by hostmask. An example of this would be:
/msg chanserv
addop #clan_xyz k1ckazz *!*whiz@*.enterthegame.com
It is possible to add more than one nickname or hostmask to the auto-op list in
one command. Just separate multiple nicknames or hostmasks with one space
between them.
If you aren't very familiar with what hostmasks are, how to get them, or how to use them, please see the
hostmask tutorial elsewhere on our site.
If you want to auto-op EVERYONE entering your channel, use *!*@* for the hostmask.
Be warned, however, that *!*@* does not technically count as an auto-op. If
you have this on your auto-op list, your channel WILL expire after 30 days.

Add Auto-Voice |
 |
|
 |
|
You can have ChanServ automatically give voice to people when
they join your channel using the addv command.
The syntax for ADDV is /msg chanserv addv #channel adminpass nickname
or !addv nickname
Example: You would like to add VD-WHiZ as an auto-voice in your channel #clan_xyz
and your admin password is k1ckazz ... you would type:
/msg chanserv
addv #clan_xyz k1ckazz VD-WHiZ -or-
!addv VD-WHiZ
You can also add an auto-voice by hostmask. An example of this would be:
/msg chanserv
addv #clan_xyz k1ckazz *!*whiz@*.enterthegame.com
It is possible to add more than one nickname or hostmask to the auto-voice list in
one command. Just separate multiple nicknames or hostmasks with one space
between them.
If you aren't very familiar with what hostmasks are, how to get them, or how to use them, please see the
hostmask tutorial elsewhere on our site.
If you want to auto-voice EVERYONE entering your channel, use *!*@* for the hostmask.

Mass DeOp |
 |
|
 |
|
If your channel is being taken over or you see a bunch of people opped that
shouldn't be, massdeop is a handy tool to regain control fast! It will
deop everyone in your channel who is currently opped.
The syntax for MASSDEOP is /msg chanserv massdeop #channel adminpass
or !massdeop in your channel
Example: Your channel is #clan_xyz, and your adminpass is k1ckazz ... you would
type:
/msg chanserv massdeop #clan_xyz k1ckazz -or-
!massdeop

Op Me |
 |
|
 |
|
If you want ChanServ to op you without having to leave the channel, or if you
have a chanpass set, you will use the opme command.
The syntax for OPME is /msg chanserv opme #chan [chanpass]
The chanpass is only necessary if you have one set for your channel.
NOTE: See
the section below on what CHANPASS means. This
is NOT the adminpass!
Example: You’re in #clan_xyz, and your chanpass is 0pspl34se ... you would
type:
/msg chanserv
opme #clan_xyz
0pspl34se

Invite Me |
 |
|
 |
|
If your channel is set to invite-only and you can't get in, you can use the
inviteme command to have ChanServ invite you in. This command only works for
people on the channel's auto-op or auto-voice lists.
The syntax for INVITEME is /msg chanserv inviteme #channel
Example: You’re the chanleader for #clan_xyz, and you need to get invited into your own channel because you’re late for practice.
You would type in:
/msg chanserv
inviteme #clan_xyz

Lock Channel |
 |
|
 |
|
If you absolutely cannot gain control of your channel, the lockchan
command can be used to deop everyone in your channel and prevent anyone else
from gaining ops.
This command is only to be used if you absolutely cannot get control of your channel… it takes an
ETG admin to unlock your channel after you use this command!
The syntax for LOCKCHAN is /msg chanserv lockchan #channel adminpass
Example: Your channel is #clan_xyz and your admin password is k1ckazz. You would
type in:
/msg chanserv
lockchan #clan_xyz k1ckazz

Reset Modes |
 |
|
 |
|
If your channel’s been taken over, and you can’t get back in… this is a good place to start.
Resetmodes lets you reset your channel back to the default modes that you
have locked in for your channel (see set enforcemodeson and enforcemodesoff
below).
The syntax for RESETMODES is /msg chanserv resetmodes #channel adminpass
Example: You’re the chanleader for #clan_xyz, and your adminpass is k1ckazz
... you would type:
/msg chanserv
resetmodes #clan_xyz k1ckazz

Unban Me |
 |
|
 |
|
If you have been banned from your own channel or any channel where you are an
auto-op,
you can have ChanServ unban you with the unbanme command.
The syntax for UNBANME is /msg chanserv unbanme #channel
Example: You’re an administrator or auto-op for #clan_xyz, and someone came in and banned you. You need to get back in the channel.
You would type in:
/msg chanserv
unbanme #clan_xyz

Unban All |
 |
|
 |
|
You’re back in your channel, but the rest of your clan is banned. This is a problem. Here’s the solution.
The unbanall command lets you completely clear your banlist from inside
or outside the channel. This should only be used in EMERGENCIES, because it also removes bans you may have set
and still want to leave in place.
Syntax for UNBANALL is /msg chanserv unbanall #channel adminpass
or !unbanall in the channel
Example: You’re the chanleader for #clan_xyz, and your adminpass is k1ckazz". You need to clear out the banlist
because of a takeover attempt.
You would type in:
/msg chanserv
unbanall #clan_xyz k1ckazz -or-
!unbanall

Set Description |
 |
|
 |
|
If you want people to know something about your channel before they join, this is a good place to put it.
Keep whatever you put here short, though, as this is something that shows up when someone does an INFO on your channel.
Remember that what you put here is visible to ANYONE doing an INFO on your channel!
You can tell what game/mod your clan plays, who the channel belongs to, or just give your FULL clan name (rather than just your tag).
Syntax for SET is /msg chanserv SET DESC #CHAN ADMINPASS WHATEVERYOUWANTOSAYHERE
Example: You’re the chanleader for #clan_xyz, and you want to make sure everyone knows what your clan is about.
Your Admin Password is "k1ckazz"
You would type in:
/msg chanserv
SET DESC #clan_xyz k1ckazz Home of Clan XYZ!

Example: You’re the chanleader for #clan_xyz, and you want to make sure everyone knows where your website is.

Set Contact |
 |
|
 |
|
If you want people to know who to get in touch with about questions or problems, matches or whatever, put it here. This is also the email address that EnterTheGame sends lost/forgotten passwords to.
Remember that what you put here is visible to ANYONE doing an INFO on your channel!
Syntax for SET is /msg chanserv SET CONTACT #CHAN ADMINPASS WHATEVERYOUWANTTOSAYHERE
Example: You’re the chanleader for #clan_xyz, and you want to make sure everyone knows who to contact if they want to join.
Your Admin Password is "k1ckazz"
You would type in:
/msg chanserv SET CONTACT #clan_xyz k1ckazz captain@clanxyz.com
NOTE: Make sure that you only type the email address WITHOUT anything extra to make it look fancy (including colours, underlining, bold, extended ASCII characters instead of regular letters, etc). This will make it a lot easier for you to retrieve your lost/forgotten adminpass.

Set Services Password |
 |
|
 |
|
Nobody else in your clan knows enough about IRC to trust them as backup admin, but you’re not there all the time.
By setting a services password, the ETG admins can help take care of your channel when you’re not there.
Remember to send out this password to your clan members via email or ICQ/AIM/MSN/etc.
Syntax for SET is /msg chanserv SET SERVICESPASS #CHAN ADMINPASS SERVICESPASSHERE
Example: You’re the chanleader for #clan_xyz, and you want to enable the services password.
Your Admin Password is "k1ckazz"

Set Prevent Modes |
 |
|
 |
|
You want to place a keyword on your private channel, but chanserv keeps removing it.
Turning off PREVENTMODES on a channel allows you to set keyword/invite/limit... but so can others if your channel is taken over.
Syntax for SET is /msg chanserv SET PREVENTMODES #CHAN ADMINPASS [ ON, OFF ]
Example: You’re the chanleader for #xyz.priv, and you want to set a keyword on #xyz.priv (your clan’s private channel).
Your Admin Password is "k1ckazz"
You would type in:
/msg chanserv SET PREVENTMODES #xyz.priv k1ckazz OFF
Now set keyword, invite, or limit as normal.

Set Locked Topic |
 |
|
 |
|
This command is in direct response to all of you who’ve asked that we add something to services to lock down at least a portion of your channel’s topic so that it CANNOT be messed with other than by the admin(s) of the channel.
The default setting for LOCKEDTOPIC is OFF (which means that if you want a portion of your topic to be locked down, you have to take action to make it happen).
To leave a section where people are allowed to change the topic use the variable %%NEWTOPIC%%
Syntax for SET LOCKEDTOPIC is /msg chanserv SET LOCKEDTOPIC #CHAN ADMINPASS locked topic here (put %%NEWTOPIC%% where you want to allow people to change the topic)
