a Public Network Chat On 8/31/99
The ETG iRC
Network was founded with one concept in mind… That concept was to make
something never seen before. A gaming network, run by gamers for gamers, by
people who actually care about all the users and did their very best at all
times to help them. A network where the admins aren’t off in their own
little world, but where they are constantly there interacting with everyone
and helping them. A network where you don’t serve the admins, they serve
you. Not because they have to, but because they want to. That is the key
right there, we as admins are here because we want to be here to help you.
We like helping people, we like this network, and we like helping people on
this network.
During the
past 7 months we have done everything in our power to provide you with a
stable and safe network. We have constantly done things to improve the
network. Something only 2 other networks can honestly say, we programmed
*from scratch* the channel services we run… and we did it for one reason..
For you and the rest of the gaming community.. we wanted to provide you with
the best we could, so we made what we thought would work the best. We even
recently added a security service to help with the vast # of channel
takeovers, over 5 per minute… yes it might have been an annoyance at
first, but in the end it has prevented hundreds and hundreds of channel
takeovers so far..
In the end
what I’m trying to say here is, I and all of the admins have put A LOT of
work into this network, not for ourselves… but for you the users… very
few of the users will ever understand how much time and work has gone into
this network.. the countless nights of staying up to 3am coding services..
or getting paged during problems and having to leave the movies or whatever
drop whatever we r doing because some people on the network need our help..
some of us have been very dedicated to being here to help you when
you needed us…
All of this
hard work has totally paid off.. over the course of etg’s life it has
become the #1 gaming chat network… to this day we are still hitting new
user highs.. people from all over come because it’s a good network to be
on with admins who actually care about not only the network but its users as
well…
I look at
all of the time, effort, hard work, and caring that has gone into etg.. not
only by its admins.. but by its helpers.. and users..
all of these people who care so much about the network that they just
want to do whatever they can to help out… that was what I was after when
etg was formed.. bringing together the community… its great seeing people
helping other people for no other reason then just they like helping
others… its something that we don’t’ see very often in today’s
world… I’m quite happy with what has become of etg…

While that chat is an old one, I don`t think I
could say it any better now then I could then. ETG was a dream, ETG is now
a reality. Thanks to all of the great people who have helped and poured
their hearts into it to help make it what it is today.
